We can provide emergency eye care to anyone experiencing symptoms which are alarming. By asking questions our team of optometrists can assess how urgently you are needing to be seen and treated. Often, this visit is covered by Alberta Health Care.

Dr. Janna Wirringer is a graduate of the Pacific University College of Optometry and the University of Calgary. She’s a native Calgarian, and is thrilled to be able to offer comprehensive eye care to patients in this wonderful city.Dr. Wirringer enjoys seeing patients of all ages, and she has a special interest in ocular disease and binocular vision. She truly enjoys getting to know her patients and helping them with their individual eye care needs. She’s very excited to be part of the team at Jaffery Optical.In her free time Dr. Wirringer loves bike riding, strength training, and doing anything active outside. She enjoys discovering new music, experimenting with healthy recipes, and spending time with her loved ones.
Dr. Jennifer Hugh has been at our Chestermere and High River locations since September 2016, however, she has been with Jaffery Optical since 2014 having started at the location in Braeside. She graduated with a degree in Optometry from the Pacific University College of Optometry in Oregon, and after practicing for a few years decided to pursue a 1-year optometric residency in Advanced Primary Care at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science. During her training she had the opportunity to provide care for individuals in both primary care and long term care facilities, which has given her a range of experiences and exposure to a multitude of different eye conditions. She looks forward to getting to know her patients and meeting all their visual needs with the help of the rest of the team at Jaffery Optical.
Dr. Jessica Flack was born and raised in Airdrie, Alberta. She received her Bachelor of Science degree at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax and her Doctor of Optometry degree at Pacific University College of Optometry in Oregon. Along with this, she has always been passionate about early childhood education and the role vision plays in a classroom setting, and therefore pursued a Master of Education in Visual Function in Learning concurrently with her optometry degree.
Throughout her optometric training she’s had the opportunity to provide comprehensive eye care to patient’s at a primary care clinic in Oklahoma, treat various ocular diseases at a Veteran’s Affair hospital in Pennsylvania, perform low vision exams for students at the Washington State School for the Blind and treat traumatic brain injury symptoms to US military personnel in Landstuhl, Germany. She also had the opportunity to participate as a trip leader in a global eye care outreach program to Costa Rica, where she helped provide eye care and glasses to patient’s in need.
Her special clinical interests include binocular vision, ocular disease and low vision. She has been awarded the 2017 Paul Kohl Award for Excellence and Passion in Pediatrics and Binocular Vision, as well as the Eschenbach 2018 Student Award for Excellence in Low Vision. Dr. Jessica Flack is thrilled to be a part of the Jaffery Optical team and is looking forward to providing comprehensive vision care to her patients.
Dr. Jessica Bylsma was born and raised in Red Deer. She then moved to Calgary and finished her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Calgary in 2013. She spent the next four years in Waterloo, Ontario where she graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Doctor of Optometry degree in 2017. Dr. Bylsma was actively involved in the student society during her time at the University of Waterloo and received the L.M. Newell Clinical Optometry Award for her clinical proficiency. In the summer of 2015, she was lucky enough to go on a trip of a lifetime to provide ocular health exams to patients without access to eye care in Lima, Peru.
Dr. Bylsma completed an externship in ocular disease and therapeutics in Pinellas Park, Florida. Outside of work, Dr. Bylsma enjoys fishing, yoga, baking and spending time in the beautiful mountains with her husband.
